MHS is proud to offer a new, wide range of badge workshops for Scouts hosted right here at Elm Bank! From our outdoor classrooms to the vegetable garden, and all the way to our forested hiking trails, there is so much for Scouts to learn and do at the Garden at Elm Bank.
We offer a variety of scouting programs which run 90-minutes long and are designed to support badge requirements; MHS does not supply Scout badges.
Let's gather the troop and get growing!
While exploring the Garden, we will use what we see and hear to create fun and exciting art projects.
Prep and plan for an eco-hike along the Charles River. Scouts will learn ways to protect nature, respect nature, and identify natural species right in our own backyard.
Come explore the Garden and discover the wild and fascinating world of bugs! Learn how bugs can be helpful or harmful, and find ways to protect native species.
Using nature as our guide, we will create art from what is all around us. Scouts will work with wind, sun, and seeds to create art inspired by the Garden.
Let's go for a hike! Scouts will prepare for our hike along the Charles, learn simple weather predictions, get outside and have fun doing it!
Where better to earn your Gardner badge than at your local botanical garden? Scouts will learn how to grow different plants while helping out in the Seed to Table Vegetable Garden, creating art, and planting their own seeds.
Let the Garden be your inspiration as we create and engage with different mediums of art throughout the garden.
Join us for a hike along the Charles River and discover what's hidden in our own backyard.
Scouts will prepare for a hike along the Charles through simple weather predictions and route planning. We will enjoy a hike, BYO trail snack, and wildlife ID while out on the trail.
Scouts will learn and test their compass skills by completing a treasure hunt through our garden.
Scouts will learn about wild environments on a hike along the Charles River, then return to the Garden to learn about our Garden ecosystem and all the creatures that live there (big and small!)
